Gooch & Housego Fiber Optics business unit reports healthy module business in first month of 2012

Gooch & Housego, the global manufacturer of optical components and systems has received significant new orders in its fiber module business in the first month of 2012.

The orders have been spread across a broad range of market segments, including sensing, avionic, telecoms, industrial as well as biomedical and reflect a successful and on-going strategy of diversification in the fiber optics arena.

Paul Ellis, Senior Vice President commented, “January has proven to be a great month for our modules business. Our UK (Torquay) facility received orders in excess of $2M. The majority of the business consists of repeat orders and it is very pleasing to see that all our major market sectors are included. However, the green light has also been given to a number of new projects in which we are providing design and prototyping services – their success helps maintain future growth”.

Gooch & Housego’s fiber optics capabilities have been strengthened recently by the acquisition of EM4 (Boston, USA), a specialist manufacturer of active fiber optic components such as transmission diodes, pump diodes and fiber coupled detectors. Gooch & Housego has a multi-disciplinary fiber optics team able to offer a complete fiber module design, manufacture and qualification capability, drawing on the experience of over 10 years of supplying fiber optic modules into diverse application areas including satellites, biomedical imaging, fiber laser, telecommunications and sensing.

Gooch & Housego will be exhibiting at OFC/NFOEC, Los Angeles Convention Center (4th-8th March, Booth 2611) and Defense, Security & Sensing, Baltimore Convention Center (23rd – 27th April, Booth 2123). Please email your enquiry to
