G&H Launches Visible Wavelength Fiber Coupled Acousto-Optic ModulatorsIlminster, 23 April 2014
Gooch & Housego manufactures a range of Fiber coupled Acousto-Optic devices for use in pulsed fiber laser amplifier systems, giving optimum performance in a range of demanding applications including material processing and sensing. Now, in response to customer requests, G&H have produced visible wavelength versions for microscopy and instrumentation applications. The G&H Visible Wavelength Fiber-Q offers market leading performance based on our extensive infra-red fiber coupled products and incumbent visible free space solutions.
Concentrating primarily on polarization maintaining products G&H have demonstrated high PER and low insertion loss using qualified processes and industry standard TeO2 cells. Depending on the specific wavelength required, optimized PM or SM visible fiber is used.
Fiber connectorized versions and optimized RF drivers to drive the Fiber-Q are also available.
Adrian Norman, Engineering Director at G&H Torquay commented, “The visible wavelength Fiber-Q was a natural evolution of our already extensive AO range. Although aligning the smaller core fiber was clearly a challenge, we have managed to meet and in fact exceed our expectations for optical performance. We now have Fiber-Qs available from 450nm to 2µm in both PM and SM fibers, increasing our coverage of our customers expanding expectations.”
Scientific lasers and Biophotonics applications such as fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, imaging and spectroscopy are the primary applications for instruments requiring visible Fiber-Qs.
